LUDHIANA: After about eight months of her disappearance under mysterious circumstances, the police, on Thursday, cracked the high profile murder case of Reema Jain (40), widow of a Ludhiana industrialist.
Her kidnapping and subsequent murder was masterminded by her brother-in-law Anil alias Mickey Jain who disposed her body in the gutter of the septic tank in his factory at Sherpur Khurd, Ludhiana. Both were involved in a property dispute.
A police party from Jagraon retrieved parts of her skeleton in the presence of executive magistrate and experts of forensic science laboratory, Chandigarh, on the identification of the accused, Mickey Jain and his three accomplices.
The deceased's elder son Bhanu Partap Jain identified her from a white colour pen, a pair of slippers and pieces of embroidered clothing.
Jagraon SSP RK Jaiswal who has been investigating the case since his posting as SP City, Ludhiana, told TOI that the accused, Jain, confessed to have committed the crime along with his three hired accomplices with whom he had struck a deal of Rs 10 lakh for the purpose.
They have been identified as Jasvir Singh alias Leelu, his cousin Kuldip Singh and a friend Tarsem Singh alias Bony of Narangwal Kalan, Mandiani and Kot Manna villages of Jagraon.
The accused, kidnapped the deceased on July 30, 2005, outside Ludhiana's elite Sutlej Club, where she used to come daily for swimming. A case was registered at Ludhiana on the complaint of her son.
The accused confessed to have killed her by administering some injection. But before that he forcibly got her signatures on some property documents and also manhandled her. Later he concealed her body in the factory store and threw it into the gutter next morning.
The accused had kidnapped and brought her to his factory and directed one of his accomplices to park her Honda Accord in the parking lot of IGI Airport, Delhi, to dodge the police.
The deceased was married into a prominent industrialist family. Her husband, Sunil Jain, was shot dead about three years ago while returning from his factory. The deceased and the accused were involved in several police cases and litigations since then.
